    In our situation, we have to avoid all sources or traces of egg. For others, it may depend on the severity of their allergy. Allergies are often rated on a scale following a blood test to determine the antibodies produced in reaction to the food. One more website to better explain:

    I have heard from many people who can't eat regular eggs, but can eat pasteurized shell eggs (like Davidson's).
    
    I'm talking about people who say that eggs upset their stomachs, not folks who are likely to go into anaphylactic shock.
    
    It may be that the pasteurization process (a warm water bath) destroys neutral bacteria and other microbes that cause the upset stomach. That's an educated guess, not scientific by any means.

    Mike-as a mom to an egg allergic child we are vigilant about label reading. In the U.S. if egg is an ingredient (no matter the name) it must be listed as such on the ingredient label by law. Or it must say at the bottom of the label "contains egg". For the egg allergic out there, there are many sites (like the ones listed here by others) that have allergen alternative names lists if you are worried. Food allergies are an allergy to the protein-in this case egg protein. Some people with egg allergies can tolerate egg in baked or processed goods because cooking alters the protein. One should always discuss this with an allergist or medical professional.

  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- September 4, 2008 -- T. Marzetti Company, Columbus, Ohio is recalling a limited number of 12 fl. oz. bottles of Girard's Honey Dijon Peppercorn (item 58105) because they may have the incorrect back label of Girard's French Dressing (item 58015). The Girard's Honey Dijon Peppercorn contains eggs, which is not declared as an ingredient on the Girard's French label. People who have allergies to egg run the risk of serious allergic reaction if they consume this product.

  Quaker Kettle Corn Rice Snacks

  Here's a "cookie" my toddler can eat, and will eat. No egg, milk, soy, nuts or wheat. Most of Quaker's other Rice Cakes have one or the other... This "Kettle Corn" flavor is safe for us.

  Tinkyada Little Dreams Brown Rice Pasta

  For my small child with multiple food allergies, this pasta is perfect. No wheat. eggs. milk. soy or nuts. Although he isn't yet aware of the shapes, their size and texture make it easy for him to pick up and chew.
