We are on low-carbohydrate diets, whether South Beach, Atkins, or others. By choosing foods that have a low glycemic index, and that take longer to digest and enter our blood streams, we strive to lose weight, feel more energetic, and prevent health problems caused by high carbohydrate diets.

Anyone have any in low carb hacks?
For example, I made mashed turnips the other night and I liked them MORE than mashed potatoes. They had a nice zing to them, but the same mouth feel as MP.
Looking for similar substitutes to lower carb content, increase fiber content.
My understanding is that low carb diets work largely based on the glycemic index... things with a low glycemic index take longer to digest and longer for the sugars to enter your bloodstream. For me, this makes me feel full longer, and I eat less. Anybody else find this useful, or have any quick references on food and glycemic index?
I'm pretty tired of getting the "variety pack" of 14 mini bars and having only two or three be chocolate ice cream and the rest vanilla. I'm not going to buy them anymore.
I can get by just as easily with a werthers for a sweet touch when I need it.

This seltzer is great. We have it at our office and it is a staple.
Great for an afternoon pick-me-up with a little flavor, without being as acidic as the lime or lemon flavors.
And no carb, no calorie too :) What's not to like?
These oats are fan-oaty-tastic. Comparing this to Quaker instant is like comparing a fine wine to that green stuff you see on the bottom shelf for $2.95 a bottle.
It's easy to make these for breakfast. Less than two minutes in the microwave and you're done.
Try the oats. They are YUM. Also high glycemic index, keeping you full for a long time.
