Parents

We are parents with children, and want to find ways to feed our kids right. It won't do any good to have health food our kids won't eat, but we aren't about to give up either. We want to learn from each other about products that work, that are healthy and make our kids happy.

  • Is your school peanut-free? More and more schools are asking parents to bring peanut-free lunches to school. I was wondering if any parents would share their experience, advice, or opinion on the topic.

  • Is there such a thing as too many goldfish crackers? Honestly, sometimes it's the only thing my kids will eat. We've tried to do lots of different things to encourage them to eat different foods, and to be honest they usually do just fine. But other times only goldfish (for example) will do. Anyone have success stories with getting their kids (or neices, nephews, etc) to eat more?

  • Silk Vanilla Soymilk

Best soymilk on the market (that I've tried), hands down. The flavor is not beany and has a lovely vanilla taste. It is great on cereal or fruit. I love that it doesn't have the chalky sediment in the bottom, probably because it's fresh and not one of those in the aceptic packaging. Most of the soymilk brands I've had are in aceptic packaging.

For a while we were only drinking Silk at home, but have switched to organic cow milk because my 5 year old LOVES it. I do prefer the Silk.

  • Kraft Original Easy Mac Cups

Easy mac. When I was in college, a friend of mine had a dog who had trouble gaining weight. The vet told my friend to feed the dog mac n' cheese. Ever since this, I feel guilty even admitting that I have this in the pantry. It's actually a staple. We don't get the cups, just the boxes of single serving packets from Costco.

I made some for our daughter today and thought I could share a tip. I don't know about other kids, but our two-year-old is just as happy eating half macaroni, half shredded zuccini, broccoli, or frozen mixed veggies. You might want to start out with less veggies then work the ratio to what you prefer.

When I give her a bowl of half veggies, half macaroni, I feel like a better mom.

By the way, this is the way I make it for myself, too.
