I absolutely loooooooooooooove Fage0% ...OMGGG SOOO GOD! Fage 2%, I eat once in a while because of the fat, but otherwise i just love all FAGE PRODUCTS! ALL!
Greek yogurt is creamy due to straining. Plain, natural yogurt which is normally thin, is allowed to set in a filter. The watery whey permeates the filter leaving the yogurt solids behind. You can fill a large coffee filter with yogurt and place the filled filter upright in a container. Place in the fridge, and you'll have "Greek-style" yogurt in a few hours.
Please remember that since most of the water has been drained from the yogurt solids, the fat will be more concentrated giving it a better creamy body. That is why is seems so high in fat.
I was in Santorini, Greece last year and went to a little market to get breakfast for our family. By accident I picked up FAGE Yogurt. Since I speak a little Greek, the woman at the register raved about FAGE and she was right. Then I found it at Stop and Shop and Shaws in the USA. I began a diet this January and have lost 20 pounds and FAGE 0% is the key to my diet. For breakfast, every morning, I eat FIBER ONE CEREAL and FAGE 0%. It fills me up till noon. Also instead of ice cream at night, I have fruit with FAGE 2% Yogurt. If you are looking to lose weight remember that the whole FAGE is not low cal or low fat. Enjoy this stuff is worth the price.
This is one of the best additions I have made to my regular shopping list in years. It doesn't TASTE fat free at all. You can use it in a number of ways, as substitute for sour cream, in morning smoothie, in dips and salad dressings, and a couple of tablespoons added to some fruit as a mid morning snack. It's very very thick, but if you don't use it all right away, it will develop some water in the fridge.
I don't love this O% fage as much as I love 2% fage, but Jen is right, 2% is best for special occasions because it's high in fat. O% fage is a great lowfat version that will delight your tastebuds, but won't kill your waistline.
This Fage is a little runny (unlike the custard-like Fage 2% and whole). I don't generally like runny yogurt myself, but the problem is fixed after you add fresh strawberries, bananas and granola. Drizzled with a little honey -- it becomes dessert!
