I don't like this as much as original Sam and definitely not as much as Sam Winter but if you're looking for something a little lighter and unique then this will satisfy. I agree with the other reviews that this has a distinctive, appealing aroma. Note that I'm not really into cherry or other fruit based beers (except the occasional blueberry beer) so take this review with a grain of salt.
I got hooked on Sam Adams Cherry Wheat when I lived in Jamaica Plain near the Sam Adams Brewery, which is by Doyle's, where they serve random Sam Adams brews in kegs brought over from the factory. The Cherry Wheat started out as one of those. It's sweet and smooth, and is perfect during the winter months. It's by far one of my favorite things to find on tap.
This beer has a distinct cherry taste. It is refreshing and best served in a pint glass so that you can enjoy the aroma.
Not normally a huge fan of Sam Adams (though the Sam Summer is quite good), but the Cherry Wheat is a decent enough choice when you're in a small-town bar and the selection is mostly limited to "lawnmower" beers (see: Bud, MIchelob, and all manners of "light" beers, along with the requisite Guinness and Heineken). The cherry taste isn't overpowering, but it's a little more sour than what I prefer when it comes to fruit beers. I wouldn't go out of my way to find it in the store, but again, if your options are limited you could do worse.
