  • From the maker

Made with organic soybeans. Creamy natural taste of silk, plus a boost. Vitamin fortified. Excellent source... of calcium and folate. One 8 ounce cup of Silk Enhanced Soymilk contains: Powerful antioxidants like Vitamins A, C, and E. Essential Omega 3 fatty acids from flax seed. Folate and Vitamins B2, B6, and B12, 35% of recommended daily calcium. 7 grams of soy protein from whole, organic soybeans, and absolutely delicious soymilk. According to the FDA, 25 grams of soy protein a day, when consumed as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. One serving of Silk Enhanced contains 7 grams of soy protein. Linum Usitatissimum, the scientific name for flax, means most useful plant in Latin. And for good reason... the various parts of the flax plant have been used to make fabric, dye, paper, medicines, fishing nets, and soap. Flax's most recent claim to fame-the beneficial Omega 3 fatty acids found in its oil. Changing the world, One bean and Volt at a time. The key to Silk's nutritional goodness is our Silk Soybeans. They're grown for us organically without synthetic or chemical pesticides. And they're a variety that acquired their pedigree for good taste and nutrition through natural crossbreeding-not genetic engineering. And just when you thought you couldn't feel better about using Silk, we've gone and made it even cooler. We're laying off the fossil fuels and using our beans instead. We added up all the electricity we use to make Silk and other White Wave products and replaced it with clean wind power. How did we do it? We purchased government-regulated renewable energy credits that guarantee wind power is used to replace the energy we consume. 100 % vegan-The ingredients (including the vitamins and minerals) in all Silk varieties Do not contain animal products.

The enhanced unsweet variety is the bestest! :-)

I drink a half a cup in afternoon with a piece of fruit before heading to the gym for a swim. I also use it on my oatmeal every morning.

This is a great source of vitamins and minerals.

Tastes great, although I'm a bit skeptical if the enhanced stuff is really enhanced. And I prefer the unsweetened Silk soy milk (green carton).

Soooooo I've never actually had the fortified variety, but this was the closest listing Zeer had to offer to what I actually buy. I always buy the plain Silk in the red carton; none of those fancy flavors for me (though I reckon that if I were a coffee drinker I'd fancy the vanilla variety to add to it). I think most of the Silk line already comes fortified with calcium and vitamins A & D so that you're not missing much by not sippin' on the moo juice. I stopped drinking regular milk altogether due to allergy/congestion/stomach problems that have always sort of plagued me and I won't elaborate on. Let's just say that I'm a fan of this stuff. I don't typically drink it straight-up due to the fact that it tastes a bit....grassy? It's not entirely unpleasant, though, and always seems to... taste good with whatever cereal I'm eating. It also tends to last a lot longer than cow's milk too, which is another huge plus in my book.
