I'm generally not huge on tofu eaten by itself. It's a texture thing. However, this one has a nice firmness to it that really lends itself to baking and marinades. I did it in a little teriyaki overnight and baked it when I got home from work. Delicious!
I made a lower fat version of a reuben yesterday and used this because I figured it would be fresher than the canned versions. I wasn't disappointed- it was the perfect complement for the other ingredients. It had the perfect tang to it.
I tried this on the so called "sample row" at Costco this weekend (along with some kind of falafel that had me referring to the section over by the produce as "death row," but that's a whole other review...)and I really enjoyed it. It's got a nice little sweetness to it that doesn't overwhelm you. I usually get veggie sausage because of the nutritional sham generally associated with sausages, but I would actually buy these for an occasional barbecue or as a treat.
