General What is Zeer?

Zeer is a food information resource that makes it easy to find safe food. It helps people save time, stay safe and learn and live better lives.

Does it cost anything to join Zeer?

That depends upon you! At Zeer there are two memberships: Zeer Basic and Zeer Select.

Zeer Basic: Anyone can join Zeer.com as Basic Member for FREE. With basic membership, you will be able to search or browse our database of over 30,000 food items, discover nutrition and ingredient facts on those products, read and write reviews, keep track of your favorite products and share your opinion on the foods you’re eating.

If you’re living gluten free, you have the option of upgrading your membership to Zeer Select, a subscription based service that helps people easily find safe foods.

Zeer Select: As a Zeer Select member you have unfettered access to Zeer.com and its premium features. You’ll be able to view the gluten free safety status for all 30,000 products in our database, discover alternatives for any food, view highlighted problem ingredients, and receive updates on the new foods added daily to the Zeer database.

What premium features does a Zeer Select membership include?

Once you’ve upgraded your account to Zeer Select, you will have access to the following features:

Zeer Select Process & Expertise What is the process behind Zeer Select?

Our goal for Zeer Select is to help people get the information they need to make their own decisions about what products are right for them. To help answer questions about our service, we've listed our most frequently asked questions about our process & experise page.

How do you tell if a product is "gluten free"?

We use a comprehensive process to determine gluten free status of food products. We encourage you visit the Zeer Safety Status Process page for more information.

What expertise is behind Zeer Select?

The process of identifying ingredients and assigning them a gluten free safety status is over seen by a team of Celiac Disease advisors and Celiac Disease community members, including Melinda Dennis MS, RD, LDN. Melinda has been diagnosed with Celiac Disease for over 20 years, she is the Nutrition Coordinator of the Celiac Center at Beth Israel Deaconess and co-investigator of celiac-related research taking place in their Gastroenterology Division. Melinda has authored numerous journal articles on the nutritional management of celiac disease and is a recognized speaker nationally to the celiac disease and medical communities.

Zeer Select What happens to my Zeer Basic account when I upgrade?

Everything will stay exactly the same except you will have the added benefits and features of Zeer Select! You'll be able to view the gluten-free safety status on products, use advanced search, and much more.

Do I need a credit card to purchase a Zeer Select account?

Yes, we gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We do not offer paypal options or accept personal checks, cash or money orders.

I got a charge from Zeer on my credit card, what is this charge?

Using Zeer, either you, a joint-account holder or family member purchased a paid monthly subscription to Zeer Select. This charge will appear on your credit card every month for the amount listed on your credit card statement.

We also sent an email welcoming you the service when this charge was made. Can’t find this email? Be sure to check your junk-email folder and any email accounts that your joint-account holders or family members use.

If you have questions about this charge, contact us with the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Date of transaction
  • Last 4 digits on the card charged
Can I cancel my Zeer Select account at anytime? Are there any fees associated with canceling?

You may cancel your Zeer Select account at any time. There are no fees associated with canceling. Just log in and click on the My Account link that appears at the top of any page. PLEASE NOTE: Cancellations go into affect during the NEXT billing cycle, that means that if you cancel on day 15 of your 30-day monthly subscription to Zeer Select, you will have access to Zeer Select for the remaining 15 days at which point your Zeer Select subscription will expire, and your card will not be charged again.

I signed up for Zeer Select and got 30 days free. Can I cancel at anytime during my free 30 days?

You may elect to cancel your trial Zeer Select account at any time. Just log in to your Zeer account and click the My Account link that appears in the top navigation bar. Please note, if you cancel your account during your 30 day free offer you will continue to have access until the offer expires. For example, if you cancel on day 15 of your 30 day free offer, you will have access to Zeer Select for the remaining 15 days. On day 30, your acces to Zeer Select will expire, but your card will not be charged.

If you enjoy the Zeer Select service and would like to remain a member, do nothing. After your 30 free days, you will be moved into a standard monthly subscription of our service until you elect to cancel.

Please note: Even if you choose to cancel your trial subscription to Zeer Select, you will still be member of our free service, Zeer Basic. If you'd like to permanently delete your free, Zeer Basic account, just log in and click on the My Account link that appears at the top of any page.

I'm a Zeer Select member. What day does my card get charged?

That depends on when you signed up for Zeer Select. When you subscribe to Zeer Select, you are charged every 30 days. So if you subscribe to Zeer Select on August 1st, 2009, your second charge will occur on August 31th, 2009.

What is your refund policy? Where can I find your Terms of Use?

When you sign up for Zeer, you get 30 days free to try the service and see if it's right for you. You may cancel this trial at any time during your 30 free days and your card will not be charged once the regular subscription period would begin.

After thirty days, your account is then moved into a recurring monthly subscription plan of $4.95 a month until you cancel. Your subscription membership may be canceled by you at any time, but we do not offer refunds on a subscription period once it is in progress. Cancellations go into affect during the NEXT billing cycle, that means that if you cancel on day 15 of your 30-day monthly subscription to Zeer Select, you will have access to Zeer Select for the remaining 15 days at which point your Zeer Select subscription will expire, and your card will not be charged again.

Products & Data I want to buy a product I found on Zeer, how do I checkout?

Zeer is a food information resource. We do not sell food products on our site at this time. If you’re curious where to purchase a particular item, we suggest becoming a basic (free) member of Zeer and asking our community for advice on where the product is sold.

What countries does your product data cover?

At this time, Zeer features products and product data from the Unites States. We hope to expand to other countries in the future.

I want to report a problem with your data, what should I do?

Using the feedback form on the product page in mind, let us know about the issue. We get the data on our site from a third-party source. When a person reports a problem with our data, we work with this third-party and the product manufacturer to help correct the issue

My Account How do I change my account information such as my name, email address, or password?

To edit your profile or to change your account preferences, log in and click on the My Account link that appears at the top of any page. You will be able to edit your email address, name, and password here.

How do I opt out of emails I receive from Zeer?

To edit your email or to change your email preferences, log in and click My Account in the top navigation bar, then 'change" next to "Email Preferences" and select the emails you'd like to receive.

I forgot my password, what do I do?

If you can't remember your password, you can use the password request form. Your password will be sent to your email address you use for Zeer.

How do I delete my Zeer Basic account?

If you'd like us to permanently delete your Zeer Basic account, submit an email to feedback@zeer.com. Please allow 72 hours for changes to take place.

There is no undo button so, if you simply want to opt out of the emails you get from Zeer you can do so by adjusting your email settings on My Account

Communities How do I join a community?

To join a community, go to our Communities page and find the community you're interested in joining. On each individual community page, there should be a join button. Click this button, and you're in! No application process necessary.

Why should I join Zeer communities?

By joining Zeer communities that you care about, you learn more about the products you're reviewing and rating on a personal level. Not only can you make friends that share the same interests and lifestyle as you, but once you join a community, you'll get updates in the "feed" on your homepage letting you know about community discussions and reviews.

How do I leave a community?

If you want to leave a community, click the "Edit Your Profile" link when viewing your profile. If you scroll to the bottom of this page, under "My Communities" it will list all the communities where you're a member.

To end your membership, click "Leave Community" and confirm you want to leave. Keep in mind that if you want to continue content for that community in your feed, you must remain a member.

I need to change the reason I joined my community. How do I edit it?

There are two ways to change the reason you joined a community:

  • The easiest way is to go to the community page of the reason that you want to change. Under the community name and description you'll see the reason you joined the community. Click the link to edit your statement.
  • Go to your profile and click the link next to your profile "Edit Your Profile." If you scroll to the bottom, under "My Communities" it will list all the communities where you're a member. Click "Change Reason" and edit your statement.
I want to share a product with a specific community. How do I add it?

If you are member of the community you’d like to share with already, all you have to do is use the community dropdown down when you write a review on Zeer. Simply select the community you’d like to add the product to, complete the form, and press submit.

Your review will also appear on the product page as well as the community page, tagged with the community name.

I want a friend on Zeer to join a community, what do I do?

To share a community with a friend on Zeer, visit the page of the community you'd like to share. Look to the right hand side of the page and click the "Share with Friends" button then select which friends you'd like to invite to the community.

Reviews What Should I Review on Zeer?

Zeer offers a database of over 30,000 food products for you to review. We also make every effort to keep our database current with weekly updates.

Can I add a product to review?

We're sorry; members are unable to add products to our database at this time. Fortunately, Zeer's database comes fully loaded with over 30,000 food products for you to review, plus weekly updates to keep our database current.

But, if you still feel there is a product or product category that you think needs to be added to Zeer, please email us at feedback@zeer.com.

Do my reviews have to be positive?

No, we want you to write what you really think on Zeer. Positive and critical reviews are useful to a variety of different users. However, we do encourage everyone who writes a critical review on our site to be descriptive and forthcoming with details. This helps paint a clear picture of a products pros and cons to other users.

Can I edit my reviews?

Yes! Editing a review on Zeer is actually very simple. Just click on the "Edit My Review" link which should appear at the end of your review text. Edit your review and press submit. You can edit and re-edit your review as much as you like.

If for some reason this link does not appear next to your review text, you may not be logged in. If the problem persists, shoot an email to feedback@zeer.com.

Can I delete a review?

Zeer members are unable to delete a review at this time. If you would like to request your review to be removed, just flag your review (don’t forget to include a reason why you’d like it to be removed) and someone from the Zeer team will handle it.

Can I review a product that my company makes?

If you work for the manufacturer of any product listed on Zeer, we encourage you to provide insight into your product or company so long as you disclose that you work for the manufacturer of the product. This includes situations where you are paid by the manufacturer or one of its agents to write reviews.

Keep in mind that Zeer is a community-centric site that believes in real, organic reviews and discussions. As long as you stay true to our Terms of Use and give real, honest insight about the products you care about, you're always welcome at Zeer.

Does Zeer ever remove reviews?

Zeer does not remove reviews from the site unless asked by the writer of the review. A review may also be removed if it is found to be in violation of Zeer's Terms of Use. Most commonly this will be for reviews that the Zeer community flags for offensive content.

I want to share a product with a friend, what do I do?

To share a product with a friend on Zeer, first find the product you'd like to share by using Zeer's Product Search.

On the product page, on the right hand side there is a "Share" button. Just select the Zeer members you’d like to share with, or enter the email address of your friend, complete the form, and press submit.

Reporting a Problem I found a bug or a have feedback. What should I do?

When navigating the site, if you find a bug or issue, please let us know immediately! On every page you'll see a toolbar at the top that has two buttons: Make A Suggestion and Report a Problem. You may also email us directly at feedback@zeer.com.

What should I do if a user is being offensive or violating our terms of use/community guidelines?

Next to every review or discussion on our site, you will see a flag icon. If you think someone is being lewd, lascivious, threatening, harassing, racist, hateful, or violating any other terms of use, including excessive spamming or posting personal information about other users, please flag the discussion seed or review in question or send an email to feedback@zeer.com.

How do I add or remove someone as a friend?

Adding and removing friends is easy:

  • Adding friends: If the person is not your friend and you'd like them to be one, click on the "Add As Friend" button on their profile and fill out the form to contact them.
  • Removing friends:* If the person is already your friend and you'd like to remove them, click on the "Remove As Friend" button. They will not be alerted that they have been removed.
  • *Zeer's Community Manager, Shannon S ., is the only friend you cannot remove.
Privacy What does Zeer do with my personal information?

We care about your privacy and will never give your email address or personally identifiable information to a third party without your permission.

In general, we use the information collected on Zeer to provide our services to you and other users and members, to help us understand who uses Zeer, to improve Zeer, and to contact you for customer service purposes.
